What makes Flightcontrol different

Flightcontrol is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that deploys to your own AWS account. Unlike traditional PaaS providers like Heroku or Vercel that lock you into their infrastructure, Flightcontrol acts as an automation layer over AWS. It provisions and manages AWS resources—such as ECS clusters, Fargate tasks, Lambda functions, RDS instances, and CloudFront distributions—directly within your AWS environment. This architecture ensures you retain full visibility, ownership, and control over your infrastructure while enjoying the developer experience of a managed platform.

The platform automates the complexity of AWS, eliminating the need for manual Terraform scripts or complex CI/CD pipelines. Developers can define services using a visual config or code config (YAML), and Flightcontrol handles the provisioning, scaling, and deployment. It supports Nixpacks for zero-Dockerfile builds, monorepos, and ephemeral preview environments for every pull request. By consolidating infrastructure management into a single dashboard, it reduces DevOps overhead significantly, allowing engineering teams to focus on code rather than infrastructure maintenance.

Pricing model

Flightcontrol operates on a subscription-based model with three tiers:

  • Starter: $49/month. Includes core hosting features, limited preview environments, and community support.
  • Pro: $199/month. Adds unlimited preview environments, advanced networking, and priority support.
  • Business: Custom pricing. Includes 24/7 emergency support, dedicated account management, and SLA guarantees.

In addition to the platform subscription, you pay directly to AWS for the underlying infrastructure usage (EC2, RDS, Data Transfer, etc.). Flightcontrol provides cost transparency tools to help monitor these AWS costs per project and service. This model stands out by decoupling platform fees from infrastructure costs, allowing teams to scale infrastructure usage independently of platform features.
